I am a mother, stepmother, and a wife first and foremost, but my passion is makeup and skincare. I have a degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician, so ingredients really matter to me. There’s nothing I love more than dipping into a freshly opened & highly pigmented palette, or finding a new skincare product with amazing ingredients that really works. However, being a busy mom and having a family, budget also matters. So I love finding affordable products, dupes to high end products, and/or a great sale. Anything from makeup to home decor, I love to replicate for less or save some dough. It’s such an adrenaline rush to me when I find new ways to save. I even keep a notebook of all of my special finds, coupons, and money saved throughout the year. Lastly, I also love investigating products and the companies behind them. From ingredients to backstories. I love researching. (It’s the science in me.) I like to know who and what’s behind the products that I am using.

Q&A WITH ALEXANDRA
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO PRACTICE SELF CARE, APART FROM SKINCARE?
My gratitude journal. This is something I fell in love with doing daily in 2020 and is a must in my daily routine now. It’s a way to promote positive thinking, help collect your thoughts before you start your day, and helps you truly live each day to the fullest.
DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE SKINCARE INGREDIENTS?
One of my most favorite skincare ingredients is Hyaluronic Acid. I love it because it’s naturally found in the human body, can benefit the skin by decreasing wrinkles & lines, alleviating dry skin, can soothe skins sensitivity & redness, and there is even evidence that it can decrease damage caused by the sun when taken by mouth for up to three months. And it just makes my skin look so youthful and supple. Also it’s one of the most versatile ingredients being that anyone, at any age, with any skin type can use it and get its benefits.
HOW DO YOU CONTINUE LEARNING ABOUT NEW PRODUCTS OR INGREDIENTS?
I am always researching & trying out new skincare products and I literally have a notebook almost completed with just ingredients, which I add to continuously. I also read & receive a lot of medical journals, especially with my background as a Medical Laboratory Technician, because I love the science behind products.
WHAT IS ONE PRODUCT YOU WOULD TAKE ON A DESERT ISLAND?
Sunscreen indefinitely. The reason being is I never wore sunscreen when I was younger (I grew up in the 90’s when tanning beds were all the rage.) and I learned first hand just how dangerous too much sun exposure is for your skin. I now suffer from melasma which is a constant battle that requires sunscreen on a daily basis to keep it at bay, so I never go a day without it.
SKINCARE MUST HAVES
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 SKINCARE PRODUCTS?
#1 would be my sunscreen. I like a variety of different ones for different reasons, and the one I choose depends on whether I am going to be in the sun for the day or just sitting at home in front of a computer screen.
#2 My Yerba Mate Wake up Eye gel. This has been a recent find, but has instantly become a staple in my daily routine and I catch myself putting it on a couple times a day every day. I just love the way it makes my under eye area look, and I really love how makeup applies over top. To be honest, my under eye makeup has never looked better than it has here recently, so it’s a must now.
#3 My Good Molecules Discoloration serum. Without this product, I would of never been able to get over the last little plateau I was on with my melasma spots, and then it’s helped keep them away. I can tell if I miss a day or if I forget to use this product, because my skin isn’t nearly as glowy looking, and I’ve noticed that my pores get clogged a lot easier when I haven’t used it. So this has definitely become a daily routine must have for sure.
ALEXANDRA'S PICKS
Niacinamide Brightening Toner
"One of my must have Good Molecules products is the Niacinamide Brightening toner. It doesn’t strip my skin or dry it out like most toners do, especially with already having dry and sensitive skin, and it’s gentle enough to use daily. It has evened out my skin tone so much, especially my hyperpigmentation spots."
Niacinamide Serum
"My second favorite and must have is the Niacinamide serum, which has improved the overall texture and look of my skin. Most niacinamide products cause a reaction or purging of my skin, but this one did not. I love using this with the Niacinamide Brightening Toner and Discoloration Correcting Serum, which has diminished my melasma spots almost completely. The trio is a force to be reckoned with for sure."
Discoloration Correcting Serum
"After having my 2nd child later in my 30’s, my hormones changed and therefore so did my skin. I started getting melasma spots and I didn’t want to be seen in public or on camera because I was so embarrassed. I tried everything and couldn’t get them to go away...that was until I found the Discoloration Correcting Serum which has been a God Sent. Using it consistently for only a week I saw improvement, and it gave me hope."
Pineapple Exfoliating Powder
"The pineapple exfoliating powder instantly became a favorite and must have in my routine after only 1 use. My skin immediately felt smoother, softer, and was more radiant looking that day. Even my fiancé noticed and asked if I had done something different, which he never notices or does. I knew then that it was a keeper. And it’s gentle enough to use more than once a week, and a much better exfoliating option compared to more harmful physical exfoliants on the market. I didn’t realize how much redness and damage I was causing by using them, until I switched over to this. Definitely give this a try after your evening cleansing routine, then put on a good moisturizer and wake up with beautiful, healthy, and glowy skin."
Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches
"I love using the caffeine energizing hydrogel patches prior to a full beat makeup routine. Especially when you’re planning on using concealer. They depuff your under eye area, smooth everything out, and give you a nice hydrated canvas to work with, which is key. My favorite thing to do if I’ve had an extra long night staying up with my son, is using the caffeine hydrogel patch for 10-15 minutes, then laying down some Yerba Mate Wake Up eye gel, then going in with my favorite concealer and makeup products. I get a flawless under eye every time."
Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel
"It is something that I now can’t live without. I’m actually more than halfway done with that tube. It just smooths everything out so nicely, makeup applies over it better than any other eye cream I have ever used, and it’s eliminated my Becca Anti-fatigue under eye primer these past few weeks from my routine. But more importantly than all of that, when I have had a long night up with my son, it just brightens and truly wakes my under eye area up like I’ve had a full night of sleep when normally I would have darkness and bags."
