WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR PEOPLE GETTING INTO SKINCARE?

Listen to your skin. While I blog about skincare and my experiences, most of my best learnings came from trial and error on my own skin. “Your mileage will vary” is very fitting as what works for one person may not work for another. Sometimes, it takes a while to see results too. We could be talking about months, so just trust the process! When I was first getting into skincare, I would often get discouraged if I didn’t see visible improvement in my skin compared to other people. Other than a dermatologist or a skin specialist, no one knows your skin better than you. There are numerous variables that can affect your skin condition such as diet, lifestyle and genetics. Take your time to understand your skin and see what works.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO PRACTICE SELF CARE, APART FROM SKINCARE?

While you may rarely find me reading a book, self-care varies by the day. At its core, it is simply just taking time for myself. If I am feeling fancy, I usually treat my body to a deep exfoliation or a haircare routine. Other days, it could be taking time to be creative through photography, content creation or just making memorable home videos. And, if I’m honest, the best and rarest treat is lazing around doing absolutely nothing productive (maybe gaming 😊). As cliché as it sounds, I define self-care as what feels right and enjoyable in the moment.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE STEP OF YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE?

My favourite step in my skincare routine is cleansing. It feels amazing to “take the day off” and it’s like washing away my problems – literally, in skin and life. A gentle and effective cleanse is critical to my skincare routine as it allows me to start with a clean canvas.

DESERT ISLAND

WHAT IS ONE PRODUCT YOU WOULD TAKE ON A DESERT ISLAND?

Putting all basic human essentials aside, I must have my lip balm. It’s the one thing I need to have with me at all times.. My lips tend to get chapped throughout the day so keeping them soft and moisturized it absolutely critical, especially on a deserted island.

KELLY'S PICKS

Squalane Oil

"The Squalane Oil is incredibly lightweight, yet effective. It keeps my skin dewy and plump all day long. It wears exceptionally well under makeup, SPF and other products and can be used day or night! I use this pretty much everyday."

Pineapple Exfoliating Powder

"The powder to creamy foam is very gentle and easy to use. It works really well that I only have to use it 2-3x a week. I love that it keeps my skin soft and bright!"

Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches

"These are so soothing and are the perfect pick-me-up for my tired eyes, morning or night. If I have time or I’m off-camera during the work day, I will pop these on first thing in the morning and I’m off to a great start. My eyes feel refreshed and revitalized!"

$18

Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel

"My eyes feel instantly firmer and awake whenever I use this eye gel. I love using this in the morning to help me start my day and wake up! I love there is no fragrance too so it doesn’t irritate or cause any sensitivity. The texture is so lightweight yet moisturizing enough that it doesn’t leave any tackiness or residue under the eye area."
